THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Balewa’s Vegan Gourmet Restaurant Review:

Balewa Bayete gained a substantial following with his now-defunct raw vegan burger stand inside Sean’s Café years ago. At his own eponymous café, the raw food guru offers an expanded menu that still features the burger patty (made from sprouts and vegetables) served on a sprouted grain bun. Specialty salads, barbecue mushroom sandwiches, and carrot salad sandwiches with nori are also part of the mix. For those with heartier appetites, Balewa’s serves a few cooked dishes, like the spicy-hot quinoa chili accompanied by blue corn chips for dipping. Desserts run to raw fruit pies made with a nut crust and layered fresh fruits, and “un-kookies,” a raw cookie made of nuts and dates. No alcohol is served, but the fresh juices are a healthy as well as tasty substitute --- try the “Mo Beta Carrot” juice made with carrots, ginger and almond milk.
