Bandera remains a local favorite for its contemporary setting, down-to-earth cooking and friendly service. Popular with the see-and-be-seen set, it's a good choice for a fun night out, as well as an upscale, but not stuffy, date night. The menu is simple yet satisfying, focusing on grilled meats and seafood, served with a choice of a number of substantial sides. Starters include house-smoked salmon and Portuguese-style clams, while mains include Cajun-seasoned ruby red trout, white cheddar buttermilk enchiladas and Hawaiian rib-eye. Wash it all down with one of the many California wines by the glass or the house special margarita.
