This big, gaudy restaurant with lots of little private rooms is a good place for tyros to try Korean food. The extensive menu is reasonably well-translated, and the seasoning is comparatively tame. You can cook bul kogi (marinated beef), kal-bi (beef short ribs), pork, tripe and other variety cuts yourself over gas grills built into the glossy black tables, or have the kitchen prepare them, along with broiled fish, meal-sized soups, robust stews and hot or cold noodles. Meals come with soup, rice and a handful of cold vegetable side dishes, many of them pickled with chili paste. Korean pancakes and tempura are appetizers designed for sharing. Ask for the complimentary barley tea, but don’t depend on servers to speak much English.
