Bang Bang Restaurant Review:

Located in an unassuming storefront in the Hollywood neighborhood, Bang Bang serves comfort food and cocktails in a family-friendly dinner spot that's equally popular as a late-night hangout. The main menu features curry bowls, which appear expensive at first ($16-$18) but offer plenty of bang for the buck. Meat fans will enjoy the Jungle, a hearty combination of turmeric sausage, fried chicken, rice, greens, mushrooms and a quail egg, while vegetarians will gravitate towards the Sour Tamarind, a medley of fried tofu, pickled radish, roasted eggplant, greens, cilantro and glass noodles. All bowls are served with separate pitchers of curry sauce, which ensures ingredients retain their integrity. We recommend the chili garlic schmaltz, which pairs charred lime relish, the pickled coconut or incendiary house kimchi. Children may order the kids bowl (fried chicken, squash, greens, mild curry) for $8. Meanwhile, the over-21 crowd will enjoy Bang Bang's extended hours and the late-night happy hour featuring treats such as black garlic chicken wings, shaved Brussels sprouts, and delicate squash with tofu. For more conventional taste buds, burgers await. All the cocktails are fun, in particular a first-rate take on the Old Fashioned.
