Bangkok Alley Restaurant Review:

Whether grabbing a quick work-day lunch or leisurely weekend dinner before hitting the town, Bangkok Alley’s downtown location --- one of the independently owned restaurant’s three Memphis branches --- offers a little something for everyone. Although most of the dishes would be classified as Thai, there is a fusion element to the food. For example, the Thai dip appetizer (ground chicken cooked with tomato, chili and herbs) is served with Indian naan for dipping. A variety of regionally named sushi rolls (try the “Memphis” with shrimp tempura, crab, mayo, eel and cucumber) stand alongside the traditional Thai curries. Thai pad see ew, a dish of wide rice noodles, meat and vegetables, is not to be missed. Entrées are attractively plated. The decent wine selection includes some organic options. For dessert, try the mango pie, a flan-like cheesecake served with mango sorbet and sweet coconut milk. The dining room is small but sophisticated. Also located at 715 W. Brookhaven Cir., 901-590-2585; and 2150 W. Poplar Ave., Collierville, 901-854-8748.
