Gordon Ramsay has given us his version of an upmarket American-style café with the Boxwood Café at The Berkeley hotel, and now Marcus Wareing has given us his take on an American diner with Banquette, above his Grill in The Savoy hotel. The retro décor, overseen by California designer Barbara Barry, and piped music of a certain era are reminiscent of an American diner. For theatre-goers, Banquette provides an alternative to the bustle of Covent Garden. This is a place for those comfort classics: a salad niçoise, eggs Benedict, traditional shepherd’s pie and a beef burger with pear chutney. Also available are daily specials, and a small selection of desserts.
