The Barnsbury Restaurant Review:
Islington is awash with gastropubs, but this one, tucked away down Liverpool Street, is worth seeking out for its delightful décor---all wood panelling and fireplaces giving the authentic pub feel (though the wine glass chandeliers are not the usual pub gear)---and simple, good cooking. The menu changes frequently, with a good range for each course. Note is taken of seasonal tastes (hearty soups in winter) while ambitious dishes like confit duck leg, with Jerusalem artichoke mash, braised lentils and chicory, make a welcome appearance. Saturday brunch is welcoming; Sundays brings traditional roasts.
