The Barnsider Restaurant Review:
This suburban steakhouse, located just off the bustling Wolf Road shopping corridor, has been in operation for 45 years, and is still as popular as ever. With wood walls, plank floors, the requisite salad bar and efficient service, The Barnsider is truly an “Old Order Steakhouse” with a nice seafood selection as well. All beef is aged at least 28 days. Recommended dishes include the beef Wellington with mushroom duxelles and puff pastry; double-thick pork chops with maple honey mustard; apricot-glazed lamb chops; and lobster casserole. Many dishes are available in downsized portions and/or Cajun versions. For dessert, consider the hot apple crisp, Key lime pie or --- brace yourself --- the deep-fried French vanilla ice cream with caramel rum sauce, bananas and pecans. A full bar and a reasonable wine list are well-suited to the menu.
