bbar Restaurant Review:
There aren't many African-themed venues in London, so this is one of the reasons for bbar's popularity. Another is its location, just near Victoria Station (good for local office workers and commuters) and Buckingham Palace (for visitors). More plusses are the casual atmosphere helped along by the animal pictures and fabrics; a buzzing bar at the front; and a wide-ranging menu, inspired by Australian chef Bill Granger. It offers a tempting range of dishes with a something-for-everyone approach. Try beef biltong South African-style, or share a fish or meat platter. Then go for a salad, salt beef sandwich or classic burger or a more serious chicken curry. Portions are generous, service is fun and friendly, the wine list is good and the cocktails notable. Pre-theater menu 2 courses £17, 3 courses £21.
