THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Beast & Ale Restaurant Review:

The group behind Cantina Feliz, La Calaca Feliz and Taqueria Feliz breaks out with its first American offering in Manayunk. Inspired by local neighborhood taverns, Beast & Ale takes its roast beef sandwich-and-draft beer formula and one-ups it with chefy execution and chic understated décor punctuated by faux taxidermy. The sandwich-focused menu features the Beast Burger, a double patty affair, which can be dressed up with pickled serrano relish and cayenne mayo to become the Burning Beast, or with barbecue pork belly Dijonnaise to transform into the Bacon Belly Beast. Hot Roast Beast amplifies the typical beef sandwich with sharp provolone and horseradish cream sauce. If that’s not approachable enough, there’s always the fried bologna sandwich. Plated entrées include crisp fried chicken served over creamy polenta, or grilled shrimp and steamed mussels atop garlic bread. Brunch additions bring apple pancakes with lemon sauce and a french toast patty melt. The extensive whiskey menu with optional flights and well-considered cocktails offers sophisticated beverage options, but diners can also stay in the casual spirit of the place with cans of Milwaukee’s Best.
