: This quaint eatery at The Village at Lake Las Vegas features Cal-French cuisine created by owner and executive chef E. Bernard Tordjman, a native of Versailles. An expansive patio overlooks the lake, and the interior of the restaurant has the feel and look of a French café, with dark wood and road signs delineating landmarks in Paris. Adding to the charm is chef Tordjman, who makes his rounds socializing with guests and chatting about the food. Begin with the Dungeness crab cake with spicy rémoulade and fried artichoke, or the roasted farm beets and herbed goat cheese with melon, pecans and balsamic reduction, both of which come with a generous serving of mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette. Grilled petite filet mignon topped with shrimp scampi comes with three savory sauces---Provençal with juniper berries, peppercorn and red wine reduction. We also like the sesame-crusted ahi, served with wasabi mashed potatoes and vegetables in a ginger hondashi sauce. Enticing finishing touches include crème brûlée and the tarte Tatin---baked caramelized apples over cinnamon puff pastry topped with vanilla bean ice cream. A well rounded wine list includes Napa Valley gems and a selection of French imports. Highlighting the beer offerings is the French Kronenbourg 1664, a premium lager brewed with aromatic hops from Alsace.
