THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Big Fish Tavern Restaurant Review

: The laid-back side of downtown Laguna Beach is on full display at this expansive restaurant, situated on the second floor of a quaint shopping complex. The nautical-themed interior is coupled with light woods and an open dining space to maintain breeziness, while the covered patio dining affords nice views of the ocean and the Laguna hillside. Chef Marco Vargas’ menu keeps the combination of seafood and American cuisine approachable, although progressive items like the Thai-glazed calamari and the ahi poke are well executed. Seafood options abound for the main courses, and the eatery's commitment to fresh product is evident through daily changing dishes highlighting recently caught fish, as well as staples like spicy seafood jambalaya. Burgers, sandwiches and steaks are on hand for those who want to stick to turf. If you have room for dessert, make sure to ask about the rotating cheesecake of the month. On most weekend nights, you can wrangle up a craft beer or a cocktail at the bar, and enjoy live acoustic or jazz music. Breakfast is served on Sundays, and features simple fare such as burritos and omelets.
