THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Big Gay Ice Cream Truck Restaurant Review:
You’ve gotta love a rainbow tricked-out Mister Softee truck that calls itself the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. Owner-chef Doug Quint is a showman, someone who loves presenting and creating ice cream treats as much as he does classical music. (He’s a classically trained musician studying for his doctorate.) Quint’s range of ice cream and topping combinations is anything but classical, though, and changes regularly. Gracing vanilla and chocolate soft-serve are dulce de leche and cayenne pepper one day, and Trix cereal, and olive oil and sea salt the next. For the adventurous, the totally addictive Choinkwich made with chocolate ice cream and caramelized bacon sandwiched between two chocolate cartwheel cookies is offered as an encore. Think it can’t get any more decadent? Try The Gobbler, a messy symphony of a sundae with pumpkin butter, graham crackers, whipped cream and craisins.
