The Big Greek Cafe Restaurant Review:
Making its mark in the metro area ’burbs, this restaurant group has several locations and it’s a must for anyone who likes fresh, hot Greek goodies wrapped in puffy pita. The menu is relatively large for a fast-food eatery, so try an appetizer such as the topnotch freshly made hummus; also available are dolmades and grilled shrimp Aegean. For a filling entrée, choices comprise classics like falafel, moussaka and a gyro platter. For lighter fare, the kitchen turns out several Greek-style salads --- a gyro salad and a crispy calamari version. Among the Greek sandwiches are a pork souvlaki pita with pieces of grilled marinated pork and tzatziki sauce and the typical gyro of shaved meat stuffed in a pita wrap with tzatziki. Sweets include baklava and, if you’re lucky, a just-warm-from-the-kettle Greek rice pudding that’s thick and creamy.
