The Bird Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant & décor: Near Dupont Circle, this wildly casual restaurant is also wildly busy, at least at weekend brunch, when it appears as if everyone in the neighborhood has taken time off to dive into this spot specializing in chicken, duck and turkey. If you dine outdoors, take time to stroll through the interior decorated with bird artwork by local artists.
Likes: Buttermilk fried chicken and waffles.
Dislikes:Noisy indoors.
Food & Drinks: Non-poultry dishes are available, too: a fried green tomato “club” with smoked bacon; corn-and-lima bean succotash with smoked bacon; and a veggie omelet. Other mains include chicken tacos, a fried chicken sandwich, and a crisp piece of fried and breaded buttermilk chicken with a waffle soaked in maple syrup. For dinner, however, it would be hard to skip past the watermelon salad starter to balance out the turkey confit mole poblano or the sautéed Margot duck breast. There’s a snappy cocktail menu with swanky drinks and mini bites of duck meatballs, Buffalo wings, and poached eggs served with smoked bacon and butternut squash.
