Blackwall Hitch Restaurant Review:

By the Old Town, Alexandria waterfront, this sprawling two-story destination suits DC tourists craving area atmosphere and locals looking for food plus entertainment in a colorful setting. And the setting clearly dictates the seafood menu, where mussels and calamari and clam chowder take center stage. True, entrées include burgers, but the focus really goes to crab cakes, cioppino (fisherman’s stew, and this version is totally on point), shrimp and grits, and mahi mahi fish tacos. Sweets include cheesecake (larger slices, please), chocolate truffles (or other flavors, as desired) and the Maryland classic, the eight-layer Smith Island cake. With all this goes an extensive wine and cocktail list, and if you time your dinner visit just right, you may get some entertainment, such as a solo guitarist singing the blues. It’s a hangout kind of place, so plan to sit back and relax, and drink and eat.
