Perched on the top level of a multi-story structure facing Huntington State Beach, this brightly festooned restaurant affords its guests a prime spot to gaze out at the ocean blue with a smartly crafted cocktail in hand, free from the dude-bro denizens that tend to crowd around downtown HB’s Main Street. Locals like gathering among the brick and wood of the heated outdoor patio overlooking the Pacific, although the views are just as good from the comfort of the subtly blue-accented dining room. Sit inside, and you’ll see chef Jesus Munoz whip up a bevy of steak and seafood dishes with presentations that strip away pretentiousness. Kick things off with a starter of fried calamari or the ahi stacks, or order up a salad, perhaps the nicely composed Caesar. Steaks like the herb-crusted flat-iron are flavorful, and seafaring options such as the grilled Atlantic salmon with white wine caper sauce are prepared with refreshing simplicity. Be sure to save room to dig in to a slice of Key lime pie for dessert. At lunch, you can catch the noontime sparkle of the beach while indulging in a Kobe-style beef burger.
