THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES blue on blue Restaurant Review:
You may need to drive by a few times before spotting the discreet entrance of the Avalon Hotel, which used to exist as apartments where Marilyn Monroe once was a tenant. But the effort pays off. The atmosphere is modern, relaxed and elegant, with a hip mid-century-inspired interior done in light grey tones. Outside, white cabanas are shaded blue by the illuminated pool, which makes for a seductive al fresco dining experience. Executive chef Scott Garrett oversees the inventive, fun-filled menu of California cuisine: seared foie gras with upside-down pineapple cake, côte de boeuf with Syrah reduction, and Scottish salmon with chorizo-apple mash and cider reduction. On Mondays, a bistro menu features some glammed-up burgers, and there’s good news on the wine front every Wednesday night---the corkage is free.
