THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Bowery Diner Restaurant Review:

The Bowery Diner has the look of a retro American diner with its neon signage, small booths and a lunch counter that serves as the bar. Classics like the Reuben sandwich are found along with more creative fare like escargots-style whelks with garlic, butter and parsley. Start with oysters from the raw bar or periwinkles before diving into dinner specials such as hanger steak frites or skatefish with caper and brown butter sauce. Desserts --- apple pie and New York cheesecake --- can be enjoyed in their original form or blended into milk shakes (with the further option of spiking the concoction with Maker’s Mark or Calvados). Beers range from local offerings of Sixpoint Sweet Action to Maredsous imported from Belgium, and there are also interesting cocktails including the 1879, a take on an Old Fashioned made with Michter's rye, orange bitters and whiskey barrel bitters. Service is friendly and effective.
