What makes this attractive market/bistro in Aldie so appealing is its farmhouse charm, the culinary talents of chef/owner Gary Hall and his devotion to local sourcing. In fact, he grows some of his ingredients out back in the land behind the storefront. Be sure to order the egg salad or pastrami sandwich if either is on the seasonal menu, and while you wait for Hall to put it all together, browse the shelves loaded with farm-made preserves and other items and the refrigerator cases for locally sourced cheeses, eggs, fresh vegetables and milks. A dessert menu includes artisan shortbread and house-made chocolate pudding, and perhaps something apple-inspired in the fall and berry-inspired in the summer. Hall also offers a limited selection of locally sourced beers and wines.
