Stepping into Brick & Bottle, the cacophony of the massive bar is immediately noticeable. Happy hour is a huge draw, as are the comfort food favorites, seasonal prix-fixe dinners and nightly specials. The open kitchen is a focal point for live fire and culinary action, while the quiet rooms in back are good for date nights and gatherings. Come on Tuesdays for the $2 oyster specials; the petite miyagis are from nearby Tomales Bay. Prime rib is a special on weekends with several cuts to choose from and accompaniments that include creamed spinach and aged cheddar scalloped potatoes. The main menu offers a range of pizzas baked in the wood-fired oven, and starters such as ahi tartare, country pâté and French onion soup. Hearty entrées such as braised short rib, rotisserie chicken and petrale sole are deeply satisfying. Save room for the outrageous butterscotch pot de crème with snickerdoodle cookies or the banana coconut bread pudding. Wines on tap and bottle are a who's who of California selections.
