Brown Butter Southern Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review:
Brown Butter’s very woody interior, nice lighting and soothing colors combine to make a surprisingly intimate dining experience. Chef Dayne Womax and partner Simon Beck aim to offer food that is "thought provoking." Mission accomplished, Gentlemen. Why just bake a brisket when you can oak smoke it slowly and then serve it with vinegar slaw and butter beans? Choose its sauce, either Alabama white or smoked apple and onion barbecue. Now that’s Southern. And even though Brown Butter is not billed as a barbecue restaurant, the short ribs with stone-ground grits are standouts. Fried pickles with buttermilk dill dressing is another menu option. For dessert, try the lemon tarte. Expect a full bar where you can catch a Saints game on TV, and a generous beer selection. A few wines are available as well.
