C & K Barbecue Restaurant Review:

C & K’s stays true to its 50-year history dishing up authentic urban 'cue from a take-out window with absolutely no pretension. Tucked into an old gas station, C & K offers a sauce-drippin’, finger-lickin’ mess of an experience from start to finish (and usually that finish involves gnawing on a bone or two). Its tomato-based sauce, sweet-hot and a tad spicier than the usual St. Louis-style, sells by the gallon. For snoots --- the crispy-chewy, deep-fried, cartilage-laden proboscis of our friend the hog --- this is the place. Naturally, you'll find ribs and pork steaks (a local fave) as well as chicken, smashed potato salad and, usually, cake or sweet potato pie.
