Cafe Amano is situated in a redo of a bank building in downtown Elmhurst, and the atmosphere offers a welcome, sophisticated surprise. The menu features a variety of coffee creations, café-style soups, sandwiches and salads for lunch. An expanded dinner menu with pastas, meat dishes and seafood is served in an elegant yet comfortable setting. Standout starters include a flaky roasted red pepper napoleon layered with goat cheese mousse, Vidalia onion soup and chorizo-stuffed, bacon-wrapped Medjool dates. For main courses, we recommend the Italian-inspired chicken piccata, lobster ravioli, veal Marsala or the stuffed Northern Atlantic skate wing. There's also a wide selection of fruit tarts and gelati. Wines on the nicely thought out list can be had by the glass or bottle.
