THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Andreotti's Restaurant Review:
This is one of our favorite informal Italian hotel restaurants, with its tromp l'oeil murals of Tuscany, expert bartending for all your favorite cocktails, a good wine list of Italian options, and pasta aplenty. Veal dishes also rate attention, as do the garlic-laced seafood specialties. Start with the artichoke hearts dipped in Parmesan egg batter and sautéed in white wine, shallots and lemon butter. We like the tortellini Andreotti with smoked shrimp, fresh spinach, Gorgonzola and sun-dried tomatoes in a lemon-garlic butter sauce. The vitella alla saltimbocca---a 12-ounce veal chop with fresh sage, prosciutto, white wine, garlic and whole butter---is a favorite. The semifreddo (chocolate-covered frozen cappuccino and hazelnut mousse with chocolate and strawberry sauces) and profiteroles (miniature cream puffs filled with homemade vanilla bean gelato topped with dark chocolate sauce) are worth the splurge.
