Café Gratitude Restaurant Review:

Rose Avenue in Venice is home to restaurants offering hearty Italian, Spanish and American fare, while Café Gratitude is the best choice for the quintessential health-minded diner. The comfortable, bright space has an upscale diner vibe, and there’s a more intimate and quiet patio where dogs are welcome. Each item on the menu has an intriguing title; for example, "I Am Connected" is a spicy appetizer of zucchini-cilantro hummus accompanied by thick hemp chips. "I Am Mahalo" is the restaurant’s version of pizza, with a soft onion-and-sunflower crust topped with marinara, cashew ricotta cheese, pineapple, olives and avocado, loaded with spices and easily shareable. "I Am Humble" resembles more traditional Indian-inspired vegetarian fare, and includes layers of sautéed vegetables, sweet potatoes and spinach mixed with curried lentils, brown rice or quinoa, and finished with spicy mint chutney and sweet tamarind. Dessert is a must, especially "I Am Genuine" --- gluten-free Bundt cake topped with Mexican chocolate, caramel and cashew whipped cream. Breakfast is very popular here, offering the likes of chia seed pudding, buckwheat flax pancakes and chilaquiles. Wine and beer are organic, with mostly lighter options that pair well with the often delicate cuisine.
