California Pizza Kitchen Restaurant Review:
CPK's main attraction is creative pizza with cross-cultural toppings, such as the original barbecued chicken pie. A white cheese pizza has an optional addition of apple wood-smoked bacon. Thin crust pizzas come off rather like a cracker bread. For special group parties, such as birthdays, kids can arrange any toppings on their own small pizzas, which are then baked as they return to their seats. Vegetarians will find much to like, and the quinoa/arugula salad should get special attention. Grilled vegetables come with diced avocado on crisp romaine (the vegetables are served warm, a curious contrast to the cold greens). Those looking for pasta may opt for Thai curry noodles. The menu includes such appetizers as sesame-ginger chicken dumplings with chili-spiked soy-and-ginger sauce. Among desserts, perhaps the tiramisu is the ideal choice. A fairly perfunctory wine list offers some respectable quaffs, but nothing out of the ordinary. Other locations.
