Cantala, Palm Springs, CA

Cantala Restaurant Review

About the restaurant & d├ęcor: Riviera Palm Springs originally opened in 1959 and was an immediate magnet for Hollywood's Rat Pack. Dean, Frank and Sammy were often seen within its confines. These days, it's still a very cool destination to play and dine. Cantala, its signature restaurant, has a dining room awash in earth tones punctuated by kelly green banquettes, but it's the outdoor space that truly entices with its subtle lighting and intimate tables.

Likes: The outdoor dining space.
Dislikes: Noise from the nearby pool.

Food & Drinks: The menu features contemporary fare ranging from tuna crudo to a handful of pizzas (funghi misti, margherita), saffron tagliatelle and chicken Milanese. Starters include house-made pigs in a blanket cocooned in puff pastry and served with sriracha spicy mustard. Warm bittersweet chocolate cake with berries is as good as it sounds and addicting. Cocktail culture is alive and well, so don't skip out on something shaken and stirred taken straight up with a double-olive garnish.
