THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cantina Vinopolis Restaurant Review:
Cantina Vinopolis is the cavernous-ceilinged restaurant attached to Vinopolis, the vinously themed attraction. It occupies part of the brick-lined vaults behind a very good wine bar called Bar Blue, and the wine list is as great an attraction as the food. All 200-plus odd bins are available by the glass, and they're generally accessibly priced. The emphasis is on modern production and, among more unusual choices, there are a number of Greek wines. The food is robust and Mediterranean and each dish comes with a recommended wine: goats’ cheese, beetroot and shallot tart served with salad and balsamic vinaigrette; pan-fried king prawns and Devon crab mousse with spiced pineapple and mango salsa; black truffle tortelloni with sage and butter sauce, rocket and Parmesan shavings; pan-fried sea bream; fillet of beef with pomme Anna. Classic desserts include such delights as a plum and almond tart with crème caramel ice cream or chocolate fondant with praline and pistachio ice cream. Sunday lunch 2-course menu £15, 3 courses £19.95.
