Canton Cooks Restaurant Review:
The standards of Chinese-American fare, with its Cantonese roots, dot the menu, but other dishes clearly adhere closer to Cantonese tradition. A separate page of specials showcases the chef's daily selections, most on the spicy side and largely designed for the adventurous patron. From the regular menu we suggest the honey-glazed pork chops for an appetizer (easily shared), although the wonton soup for a solo diner is a heart- and body-warming broth with a pair of plump dough-wrapped wontons. Green beans come crisp and flavorful, just cooked enough, and lightly coated in oil. Now, if only the wine choices lived up to the food. Canton Cooks is open until 1 a.m. most nights.
