THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Carmen Anthony Fishhouse Restaurant Review:
An attractive perch on the top floor of the Shops at River Park is a handsome setting for the dining experience on which the Carmen Anthony chain prides itself. Although the sibling restaurants share much the same menu, the Avon location distinguishes itself with comfortable, well-spaced tables in a dramatic dining room backed by a lively raised bar and a professional waitstaff. Although technically a seafood restaurant, the menu features many chophouse signatures: jumbo shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad and crab cakes. We like the fried calamari served with the zing of hot and sweet peppers and the indulgent fried lobster tails accompanied by rémoulade. Fresh seafood selections include yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, Atlantic swordfish and Boston scrod, all of which may be served grilled, poached, broiled or blackened. Other fish house favorites include baked stuffed shrimp, Alaskan king crab legs and two- to six-pound Maine lobsters. For the carnivores, there are any number of juicy slabs of beef including filet mignon, New York strip and rib-eye steak. Classic chophouse sides like sautéed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus complete the dinner scene. A seasonal tented patio offers al fresco dining.
