Here is one of the few wine bars on the West Coast of Florida with an unexpectedly full menu for lunch and dinner. The décor suggests Mediterranean, with white plaster walls, curved archways and small square tables for four. French doors face onto the parking lot---not much of a view, but still a chance to sit by windows and look outward. The lunch menu has the expected and the unexpected. There are sandwiches and soups, plus a dozen bagel sandwiches. There is also quiche, shrimp or chicken curry cottage pie and salmon filet (poached with a wine cream sauce). The unexpected includes nine potato selections, from the Stanley (with butter and sour cream) to the Oliver (broccoli and cheddar cheese). The dinner menu also surprises at times, with a half-roast duck with raspberry-pepper sauce, beef Wellington or prime rib. A medley of fish items feature halibut, swordfish and salmon, all poached in white wine, served with a shrimp and mushroom cream sauce over rice. The selections are generally quick to the table and provide a nice alternative to other area restaurants.
