THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cast Iron Restaurant Review:

About the chef: Chef/owner Evan Cordes has worked at all the familiar Atlanta spots, from Cakes & Ale to Serpas True Food to H. Harper Station, among others. He's been a private chef, and now he's running his own restaurant.

The décor: The small galley-style open kitchen enlivens the constrained space as the culinary team seeks to avoid crashing into each other while they work. Small framed floral prints adorn the walls, keeping the visual environment simple. We like the intriguing angled light fixtures suspended over each booth.

Food & Drinks: By all means start with the octopus, briefly cooked sous-vide, rendering it tender, then slightly charred when griddled. Served atop frisée, it's paired with a poached egg. Monkfish boudin and confit against a mound of black rice pick up exotic notes from an underpinning of coconut masala. And coconut plays a role in the sweet pork shoulder with eggplant purée and an intriguing, crunchy green papaya/pineapple slaw. An odd take on the ice cream sandwich looked like a large mushroom with a pool of creamy marshmallow at its base. But we like the coffee, a French press using Decatur's Radio Roasters excellent beans. The wine list is short but offers smartly priced values that pair well with the food, starting with a Champagne and concluding with a nice Madeira. Come early as parking is very difficult and scarce.
