Central Provisions Restaurant Review:

Chef and co-owner Christopher D. Gould prepares hot and cold small plates and more in an open kitchen. Dishes are seasonal and inspired by international flavors: charred eggplant hummus, grilled Spanish octopus and Korean barbecue flank steak. Seafood lovers are treated to such local specialties as fried Brown Point oysters. There are plenty of options for the vegetarian crowd, like the beet salad and roasted cauliflower. Top it all off with a raspberry crumble bar made with pistachio, lemon and cheesecake. The restaurant, which is in a renovated old brick building on Fore Street, offers craft cocktails, a very nice wine list and local beers, too. If you’re celebrating, try one of the punches that serves two. The Peaks Island Punch blends Cognac, rum, pineapple, black tea and lime. Brunch brings choices like sourdough pancakes and bialy and lox. This is one of the few late-night places where you can enjoy bar snacks until midnight.
