THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Centro Martini Restaurant Review:

Centro Martini is an example of style’s triumph over substance. Let’s start with the good: the place is sleekly beautiful with its bright cobalt walls, blue and yellow lights reflecting off tin ceiling tiles and giant globe lanterns, plus white couches for lounging with drink in hand among good company. There’s a long menu of martinis, including ones flavored to taste like candy bars and cookies. Sound like kids’ stuff? You’re catching on, because Centro is “fancy” drinks and dining for young people who don’t know any better. The martinis are poured with a heavy hand --- there may be vodka in there under all the cloying sweetness, but it’s hard to tell. On one visit the ahi skewers featured tough fish and the spinach-artichoke dip was mostly cheese. The “Vermont Pasta,” penne with a five-cheese cream sauce, bacon, roasted roma tomatoes and spinach was decent, but mostly by comparison. The saving grace is that the appetizers are half-price all night on Wednesdays and from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. nightly, and you can get a $5 glass of sangría or a $6 martini anytime. At those prices, at least you’ll get what you pay for.
