Champions Sports Bar Restaurant Review

: This is the rowdy side of the Tampa Marriott Waterside. It's a fairly typical sports bar, but with good food. The staff is also friendly and pays attention. The walls are adorned with the usual memorabilia and photos, and there are tables plus a few pseudo-ringside seats facing a giant TV screen. The food comes with cutesy names like Bullpen Buffalo Wings, First Base Sliders (four mini cheeseburgers served with soy ketchup) and Slam Dunk Dip (Champions' signature dip of chopped spinach, Parmesan and melted jack cheese, served with tortilla chips). There are also soups, salads and sandwiches (Fight Night Philly cheesesteak and a disappointing Curve Ball Cuban sandwich lacking the rich variety of tastes of a true Cuban). But it's hard to go wrong with the Classic Champions Angus beef burger, a build-your-own model that goes well with any TV sports. For snacking, try the sweet potato tater tots. Desserts are creative; the Babe Ruth sundae is topped with a Baby Ruth candy bar.
