A handsome interior and great service belie the less-than-mediocre execution in the kitchen.
Chelsea Grill Restaurant Review:
In a neighborhood crammed with nondescript restaurants, this exposed-brick-and-dark-wood-clad eatery doesn’t stand out above the rest. It is a decent respite for a stiff drink and a snack, and the service is certainly outstanding. But the main menu is lacking. Gnocchi in the pesto gnocchi came out swimming in a sort of pesto “soup.” The burger isn’t bad but with the bar set so low, it’s not saying much. Stick to things like popcorn shrimp and cocktails and you’ll wander out onto Ninth Avenue again feeling like the experience wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
