A reasonably priced French restaurant tucked away in a corner of Greenwich Village, this place can be relied upon for classic French provincial fare. Steak au poivre, rack of lamb in rosemary-cabernet sauce, and veal chops in white wine and mushroom sauce are all standbys. The friendly proprietor is Japanese, and he sneaks a subtle Asian influence into various dishes. The pre-theater menu (early seatings only) is a great value at just around $25 for three courses and coffee or tea. The short wine list includes a respectable selection of Bordeaux and Burgundy imports.
