: This unassuming restaurant attached to a Japanese teppanyaki place serves up the unique cuisine of Sichuan, China, known for the use of numbing Sichuan peppercorns, cumin and other spices. Its setting may be bare, but the highlight is the quality food. Start with an appetizer of steamed and fried pork buns or the spicy roast beef and tripe dish. Chongqing-style la zi fried chicken is the signature item, laden with dried red chilies and the spicy Sichuan peppercorns. Other options include cumin-spiced lamb and hot-oil boiled fish and tofu. For less adventurous eaters, we recommend the salt-and-pepper shrimp and the pork and cabbage dumplings. |
