Cibo Trattoria Restaurant Review:

Intimate Cibo Trattoria, housed in the 100-year-old Moda Vancouver Hotel, is located near the Orpheum Theatre. The restaurant delights with towering pieces of local pop art that contrast with original terra cotta floors, vast ceilings, exposed timber beams and an eye-catching grappa display. Executive chef Faizal Kassam, Vancouver born and bred, stays true to the Italian philosophy of using fresh, local, organic ingredients in simple recipes. The seasonal farmer-driven menu may include grilled octopus with fava beans, potatoes and olives; shaved ox tongue with beet greens and spring onions; ricotta ravioli with lemon and Parmesan; or Pacific cod with rapini, warm olive sauce and lemon. For dessert, don't miss the espresso panna cotta with Roman brandy and amaretti. Take a seat at the reclaimed wood high-top communal table or at the grappa bar. The wine list features exotic Italian varietals as well as a selection of “backyard” wines from the Okanagan Valley. The adjacent Uva Wine Bar is a Vancouver standout.
