THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cielito Lindo Restaurant Review:

Until now, east Sacramento has had very little in the way of high-end Mexican cuisine. Cielito Lindo upstages the area’s taquerias and chain restaurants with its elegant atmosphere and attentive service. While lacking the million-dollar design of other high-end establishments in the city, the dining room is clean, bright and airy, with colorful walls and white tablecloths. Billing itself as “Mexican gastronomy,” the food is artful and modern, featuring seasonal produce and quality meats and seafood. Start with panucho de cochinita pibil, corn tortillas topped with shredded pork doused in a spicy axiote sauce, nicely offset with the tang of pickled onions. The house specialty, chicken enchiladas mole, is a hit, the sauce richly complex with chocolate and spice and peppered with sesame seeds. Other entrées include rib-eye with chorizo, grilled lamb with cactus, and an herbed red snapper cooked in parchment. Desserts are creative, such as mango mousse and an orange pudding with fruit served in a chocolate tulip.
