THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Citizen Cake Restaurant Review:

What was once just an inspired bakery moved across Market Street and morphed into an inspired restaurant. Citizen Cake draws the beautiful people of San Francisco into the swanky, suede-lined banquettes from breakfast to lunch, through tea service and pre-theater rushes, and on into dinner. And it's no small wonder the table service has grown. Elizabeth Falkner, owner and baker, has expanded on her talent to create beautiful and tasteful pastries and also offers a satisfying seasonal menu by chef Bruce Binn. A savory Dijon and tomato flan is dressed in micro greens and fleur de sel. A mesclun salad is elevated by a trio of Gravenstein apples, pistachios and blue cheese. Sicilian lamb stew comes laden with eggplant, capers and baked polenta. Pan-roasted pork chop pairs well with balsamic-roasted figs, potato purée and watercress. Desserts, like rosebud brûlée---a classic brûlée infused with rosewater and Grand Marnier and baked in a pistachio crust---are as beautiful to look at as they are to taste. The house-made ice creams and sorbets alone are worth stopping by for during an afternoon of shopping in Hayes Valley.
