Civilization Restaurant Review:

Tremont is one of Cleveland’s few compact, walking neighborhoods, and Civilization is the quintessential neighborhood coffeehouse. It opens at 7 a.m. during the week; that’s when it’s filled with downtown workers reading their newspapers or holding pre-workday, away-from-downtown planning meetings. The space is small, and there is a well-crafted selection of teas, chocolates, pastries, soups and sandwiches. The coffee might be Cleveland’s best --- and it’s no wonder, as owner Nancy Holcepl also runs a roasting business. (She even teaches other coffeehouse owners how to roast their own beans.) Civilization offers plenty of coffee customizations, including coconut milk, almond milk and soymilk.
