Claddagh Irish Pub (part of a national chain) strives to maintain that authentic old-world feeling in its massive, multi-room space. The casual outlet offers a good-enough pub experience without leaving culinary standards completely behind. Yes, portions are more than generous, so plan to share. Start with the Claddagh rings coated in a sweet bass ale batter. Then opt for either the Guinness barbecue ribs or corned beef and cabbage. Lighter eaters can try one of six entrée salads or go for garlic butter trout with capers, sun-dried tomatoes and pine nuts. Nearly a dozen sandwich choices include a few different burgers as well as a cod filet served with mac ‘n’ cheese. Finish with traditional bread pudding with whiskey cream sauce or crêpes filled with Baileys-inflected cream cheese and topped with raspberry fruit compote. The bar offers an adequate list of brews and wines.
