THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED You're not going to find the latest gastronomic trends at Clarke's, a Lake Oswego institution that tends to attract an older crowd. The food is, however, reliable and executed with considerable flair, while the restaurant has two personalities: the formal dining room and a more casual bar. The bar menu offers treats such as blue cheese burgers, truffle fries and a classic Caesar salad. Always a favorite, the seafood risotto, rich with shrimp, lobster and tomato coulis, is buttery and smooth. Some think the veal scaloppine in a wild mushroom sauce is alone worth the drive. Beef Bourguignon is satisfying on a cold night; razor clams are enjoyable whenever available. Vegetarians are covered, too, and always have a tasty choice, such as stuffed delicata squash. Patrons have the option of mixing their own entrée and sides. Be sure to save room for one of the rich, imaginative desserts --- it could be chocolate-banana bread pudding. There is a fun list of cocktails, and the wine sheet offers plenty to choose from, especially among regional labels.
