Enjoy this excursion to Mexicali, Carmel’s answer to a south-of-the-border resort. To authenticate the experience, why not bring a few friends along? --- or just find them here. The wraparound bar is a good place to drink a mean margarita and do just that. When you break from mingling (or flirting), order a house specialty such as the Oaxacan enchiladas or chicken chile rellenos. Fajitas are also done right; try the sizzling platters of steak or reel in the fresh fish, served with a cayenne-kissed banana-lime sauce and jalapeño cheese potato cake. There are plenty of vegetarian options and the restaurant is dog-friendly.
