THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Coal Mine Pizza Restaurant Review:

Owner Gary Rack and partner-chef Demetrio Zavala have more than a pizzeria on their hands with this indoor-outdoor, coal-oven winner. In addition to the lightly blackened pies, which more closely resemble New York City slices than anything else in South Florida, Zavala tosses tempura shrimp with a citrus aïoli to great effect; has a selection of main plate salads that make vegetarians drool; and keeps things interesting with an ever-changing array of lasagnas of the day that might, if you're lucky, be the chicken Parmesan version. Pastas, risotti and fresh fish are added to the menu at night, and the spaghetti and "meatball like mom used to make" just might make yours cry with envy, so tread carefully. And do save room for dessert---the daily "cupcake," which is as big as a small country, is an irresistible finish.
