THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Concha Me Crazy Restaurant Review:
Concha Me Crazy is the latest restaurant concept for award-winning chef-restaurateur Johnny Rivers, who for 40 years has traveled around the globe to perfect the dazzling Caribbean-Asian fare for this hot new downtown eatery. The dreamy interior, with curved banquettes and a dazzling aquarium, is fine looking, but Orlandoans are thrilled with Conchas spacious patio for alfresco dining. At lunchtime, downtowners crowd the outside tables, chowing down on fried oyster hoagies, slow-roasted pork with Thai barbecue sauce, shrimp BLTs, and other scrumptious fare. After the sun goes down, the menu is a bit more eclectic. For starters, we loved the unusual coconut-crusted guinea hen brochette and the thick conch chowder with a splash of dark rum and curry cream. Adventurous diners will want to try the fire-roasted chicken curry or the lobster and shrimp stew, but the grilled filet mignon with Gouda mashed potatoes is a winner, too. Desserts are so-so, but we hear Rivers is working on a whole new line-up of sweets. Conchas bar is becoming the hot new downtown hangout; space may be tight, but where else can you make a wish in a wisp of a stream that flows right on top of the bar? Youve got to see it to believe it.
