THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cooker Bar & Grille Restaurant Review:
The original Golden Bowl was one of Little Italys oldest and best restaurants. It closed in the 1980s, but reopened a few years later under the same ownership as Corbos Dolceria, one of Little Italys oldest and best bakeries. The place still has that classic old Italian restaurant look---heavy, dark woodwork, textured wallpaper, high-back chairs, white tablecloths. The food is everything you could ask for from classic Italian cuisine. Appetizers include grilled marinated eggplant with artichokes and roasted red peppers in balsamic vinegar, and smoked chicken ravioli in a Chardonnay cream and mushroom sauce. Pasta di mare (linguine sautéed with lots of shrimp, crab meat, whole baby squid and mussels in a spicy marinara sauce); tournedos of beef stuffed with mushrooms, artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes in a Chianti sauce; and veal sautéed with mushrooms, spinach and Galliano (one of six veal dishes) are among our favorites. Portions are huge. Service is appropriately mature and efficient.
