THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cottonwood Cafe Restaurant Review:

It’s hard to decide which is more clichéd here: The Jetsonesque turquoise and Barney-purple décor or the self-consciously stylized Southwestern food. Perhaps it’s the self-important crowd of singles and suits. Not much difference between the Back Bay and Porter Square locations except that the patrons at the former are a bit better coiffed. In both locations, we don’t understand why a cuisine as funky as that of the Southwest needs to be re-imagined and reduced to dishes like cowboy pot stickers (dumplings filled with frilled chicken), Santa Fe Caesar salad (red chile croutons, chipotle dressing), and Tucson chimichanga (smoked turkey, apricots and raisins). Why ruin a good thing? Bar patrons will dig the margaritas and house cocktails, not to mention the less pretentious bar menu.
